| PA 17-76 Revolutionary not Evolutionary
Sometimes only a revolution brings freedom. The newly designed Freedom DNC headset is revolutionary in design and function. This headset is the result of hundreds of interviews with pilots, motorsport and industrial users around the world who have asked us to build an Active Noise Reduction headset. They wanted a headset which protects their hearing but does not encumber them with extra weight, excess wires, cords, battery packs, or costly custom installations. The new PA 17-76 gives users that freedom.
Enhanced Voice Intelligibility (EVI)
The Freedom headset has incorporated into its integrated circuitry a proprietary DSP circuit which enhances all audio within the speech frequencies from an outside communications radio or entertainment system (cassette or CD player). The result is freedom from noise and garbled radio transmissions. There is an approximate 3-4 dB gain at 2000-4000 Hz.
Rechargeable Battery, Power Jack and Charger
The PA 17-76 is totally self-contained and requires no external power. You have the freedom of not having to choose whether you want a portable or a panel mounted version. The Freedom headset works anywhere without special installation. A 9V rechargeable nickel metal hydride (NIMH) battery is mounted inside the non-boom side ear cup. This type of battery has no memory effect as with other rechargeable NICAD batteries. You can top-off the battery by recharging at anytime. The battery is able to be charged @1000 times or @ 5000 hours of usage. This unit will not work while it is charging. You'll be free from the expense of replacement batteries for many years.
Comfort Features
The headset is fitted with an Oregon Aero Sheepskin Soft Top which virtually eliminates all complaints of hot spots caused by non-breathable synthetic headpads used by most manufacturers. The Soft Top combined with the wide single pivot suspension of the headband assures a comfortable fit. The ear seals are extra soft and generously proportioned and fit around the ear to
distribute pressure.
Modular Flexible Design
We have designed the Freedom headset to be modular in design with the introduction of a disconnectable comm-cord. We've installed the best SwitchCraft jack and plug that we could find for this application. The detachable cord makes the unit field repairable. The unit can be fitted with different comm-cords for many different communication applications.
On/Off - DNC Activation
The Freedom headset has a red push button On/Off switch on the right shoulder of the ear cup which has the microphone boom. To turn the unit on, push the button down and you will hear the unit activate. To turn the unit off, press the button again.
We have also added as a feature, a diffused green LED light which is to the left of the On/Off button which will illuminate when the unit is on. This serves as a friendly reminder so the user can distinguish if the unit is on or off simply by viewing the LED light. The LED light is positioned on the headset so the light cannot reflect in the windshield of an aircraft.
