Audio Panel PMA 8000-SR by PS Engineering
PS Engineering, Inc., a world leader in general aviation audio systems, has made a paradigm shift when it comes to how one thinks about their audio panel.
The engineers back at the plant love audio, and use the latest in technologies in their cars, home, and at work. So why has the cockpit been excluded from these technological break throughs?
Well no longer. Working in cooperation with SIRIUS Satellite Radio, we have gained access to their chipset, allowing us to integrate the radio right into our audio panel, eliminating all the wires, batteries, and mounting issues that are typically part of a portable installation.
Building on our 20 years of audio design experience, the PMA8000-SR really does it all, and not for an arm and a leg either. The PMA8000 is an audio selector panel for two VHF coms (including our split mode), a dedicated cellular telephone interface, a 6-place IntelliVox® stereo intercom with dual independent music inputs, and an internal marker beacon receiver with 3-light indicator.
This new audio panel is the direct result of customer demand. Pilots want the performance and benefits afforded by our very popular PMA7000-series, but the time and expense for an upgrade can be daunting. So PS Engineering, Inc. designed the PMA8000 to be a true plug-and-play replacement for the GARMIN GMA340.
Having a cosmetic look that blends-in with a GARMIN stack, the integrated bezel and tactile push-button control will place it right at home with these very popular communications and navigation systems. Our patented IntelliVox® automatic intercom squelch system eliminates all of the traditional knobs or push buttons. Using digital processing, the system determines if the microphone is picking up voice, or aircraft noise. It opens instantly when voice is detected. This makes conversations seamless, even in a noisy aircraft.
Through the use of a front panel control, the pilot can select our popular Karaoke mode, allowing the music to play continuously without constant interruptions, allowing the pilot to place the music in the background while having the radios in the foreground.
The full duplex TEL mode in the PMA8000 allows the pilot to access a hands free cellular telephone, where appropriate, through the audio panel and headset. Various front panel intercom configurations allow anyone in the aircraft to be placed on the cell phone, while the crew also remains connected to the communications radios.
The PMA8000-SR has configurable music inputs as well, allowing the pilot to tailor who hears what when. So with the addition of our PAV80 or PXE7300, the added dimension of DVD or MP3 can be easily added.
NOTE: When flying near around highly populated cities, signal drop may occur due to ground based repeater interference.
