The TFM-500 can also function as a cross band repeater and offers 400 memory positions (200 per band) each of which is capable of storing a transmit frequency, a receive frequency, a separate CTCSS tone and/or a DPL/DCS (Digitally Coded Squelch) code for each transmit and receive frequency, and a nine character alpha numeric identifier for each channel. All data and software control functions are via a panel mounted 12 button key pad. Operating frequency, alpha numeric identifier and other related data are presented on a 96 character, four line LED matrix display. The TFM-500 transceiver weighs just 5.1 lbs., is Dzus mounted and is completely self contained (no remote transceiver), eliminating problematic, complicated, heavy and costly R/T to control head interconnect wiring.
